The Foreign Films is the solo project of songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Bill Majoros (Former member of the mythical Canadian band Flux A.D). In April 2007 he released the double album Distant Star, a beautifully bright yet intense collection of 22 psychpop gems. Highly recommended!
Earlier this year the self-titled EP The Foreign Films saw the light of day, a collection of 7 tracks infused by the unstoppable creative vitality of Majoros. The epic pop of "A Message"(whose video was made with 4000 still photos of the recording in studio) was at the heart of this body of work. The release of his next LP is scheduled for summer 2012, but to sweeten the wait he's given us a two song preview "Night Without The Day"and "Glitter".
In the wake of multi-instrumental experimentation, aided by the expertise of talented friends from the Hamilton Ontario indie rock scene, Majoros has given us (and promises to continue delivering) sonic mini films that shine with truth in their original vision.
He writes what he thinks, what he lives, what he feels, what he dreams. It sounds honest and committed, ready to explore and push musical limits.
In this modern age of globalization, Trans-Atlantic distances seem short, day to day routines speed up in a blur of information overload. Individual can be lost in the crowd, lethally trapped in a catch-all net, overlooked and left to die. In some cases the net brings in great discoveries from the vast sea of information, beautiful and worthy material-and good people with wonderful artistic values and a desire to live the music, to tell the stories of the heart and soul.
This is one of those times.
